Once in a while, Tollywood comes across some very interesting talents. One such director who has created a good buzz with his debut film Kshanam is Ravikanth Perepu. We caught up with him for a brief interview and let’s see what he has to say.

Q)Your background ?

I was born and brought up in Vizag. Right from my childhood days, I was always inclined towards films. After watching Mani Ratnam’s Sakhi, I decided to make films and revealed the same to my family. They asked me to complete my engineering first and then think about film making.

Q)How did you bag this film ?

After completing my engineering, I got in touch with Adavi Sesh and some how managed to assist him during the post production of his movie Kiss. Post that film, I kept in touch with him and one fine day, he narrated me this concept and we both penned down the story of Kshanam.

Q)How did you get PVP involved ?

Credit should go to Adavi Sesh for taking the film to PVP. After we gave a detailed narration, PVP immediately agreed to produce the film and within three days we were on the project.

Q)Tell us about the entire filming experience ?

As I had no experience of working on a film set, the first four to five days were extremely difficult. I need to thank my direction department and camera man for supporting me during this time. Once I got a hang of things, it was a cakewalk and I was confident about my craft.

Q)What is the film all about ?

The film is a complete edge of the seat suspense drama based on a child who gets kidnapped in mysterious circumstances.

Q)The casting is quite unusual. Tell us about that ?

Yes ! right from the beginning, I wanted some unusual actors to play these roles. After watching a dubsmash video of Anasuya, I felt that she had an inbuilt acting talent. So, we roped her in for the cop’s role. Same is the case with Satyam Rajesh and Vennela Kishore who are doing serious roles in the film.

Q)Don’t you think you are at risk with your unusual casting ?

No ! In fact once the film releases, they will be hugely appreciated for their roles. Anasuya has worked very hard on her character and has done intense training for a month to play her part.

Q)Adavi Sesh is also a director. Did he interfere in your work ?

Never ! Once we wrote the story, he was only the actor on the sets and went according to my instructions.

Q)What kind of films do you want to do in the future ?

Except for the horror genre which I don’t like, I will make films in every category.
