Who would have thought in their wildest dreams that a horror comedy entertainer would surpass Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan’s industry hit Jawan? The latest mega entertainer, Stree 2, spearheaded by Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, did the unthinkable by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film in India, crossing SRK’s Jawan.

Jawan had humongous hype during its release, and the masala film directed by Atlee went on to break all records in Hindi cinema. It collected Rs. 583 crores nett in India in its lifetime, and now Stree 2 has overtaken it to become the new industry hit. Stree 2 total stands at Rs. 586 crores nett, and it will soon inaugurate Rs. 600 crore club for Bollywood.

Sequels always have good hype in Hindi, but for Stree 2, there were many advantages. Solid hype on the ground level, unanimous positive reviews, the recently grown craze for horror comedies, multiple holidays, and the lack of prominent releases paved the way for a superb long run. Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, tapped into these benefits brilliantly and scripted history.

Stree 2 earned over Rs. 800 crores at the worldwide box office and will soon enter the list of the top 10 grossing Indian films of all time. When we take the horror genre into consideration, Stree 2 is the all-time biggest-grosser in Indian cinema.
