In May 2024, the Indian film All We Imagine As Light made history by winning the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Written and directed by Payal Kapadia, the film is back in the news.
The Cannes-winning Malayalam film’s Indian distribution rights have been acquired by none other than Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati. He will distribute the movie in India through Spirit Media, with the release date yet to be announced.
All We Imagine As Light features Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon in key roles. The film was produced by Thomas Hakim and Julian Graff through their France-based company Petit Chaos, in co-production with Indian companies Chalk & Cheese Films and Another Birth, along with the Netherlands’ BALDR Film, Luxembourg’s Les Films Fauves, Italy’s Pulpa Films, and France’s Arte France Cinema.
The movie team and critics expect it to be a strong contender for the 2025 Oscars in the International Feature Film category. Stay tuned for more updates.
