In a rare feat, doctors at the Government General Hospital in Kakinada successfully performed a brain surgery on a 55-year-old female patient while she was watching NTR’s superhit comedy entertainer, Adhurs, on September 17. The lady, named A. Ananthalakshmi, hails from A. Kothapalli, Tondangi Mandal.
As per reports, the GGH doctors removed a 3.3 x 2.7 cm brain tumor from Ananthalakshmi through Awake Craniotomy while showing her favorite movie, Adhurs. The surgery was performed without damaging critical nerves, and the doctors are being lauded for this miraculous surgery. Ananthalakshmi was admitted to GGH on September 11 after she experienced headaches, fainting, and numbness on the right side of her body.
The Awake Brain surgery was performed while keeping Ananthalakshmi awake under minimal anesthesia. Doctors played Adhurs to keep her comfortable and distracted. The surgery reportedly lasted for about 2 and a half hours. Ananthalakshmi was able to sit up and have breakfast soon after the surgery. She will be discharged in 5 days. In February this year, a team of doctors at Guntur GGH performed a similar surgery while the patient was watching Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri.
