Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty, starring Anushka Shetty and Naveen Polishetty in the lead roles, is directed by Mahesh Babu P. The director previously helmed Rara Krishnaiah. Produced by UV Creations, the film is set for a grand release tomorrow. Ahead of the release, we had a brief interaction with the director, and here is the transcript.
Could you tell us about yourself?
I am from Bhimavaram. I have been interested in films since my childhood. I used to write stories during my college days, and that’s how I developed an interest in direction. Then, I came to the industry, and my first film was Rara Krishnaiah. After that, I started a few projects, which came to a standstill after the commencement of shooting. A few didn’t make it to the sets for some unexpected reasons.
Will the film have any bold content?
The film has bold content but not adult content. Naveen and Anushka have an image and credibility. If the content isn’t good, the film won’t be able to find acceptance among the audience. The censor board gave a U/A certificate for the film. They enjoyed every moment of the movie. Anushka heard the story with an open mind.
How did Naveen come on board?
I told this story to Naveen in 2019. He took 3 months and then gave his nod. We commenced our first schedule in February 2020 featuring the lead pair. But the pandemic played a spoilsport. On the other hand, Naveen was in the USA for a promotional event, and he got stuck there. We rescheduled the release date with a view to not compromising on the final output.
What is so unique about Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty?
Actors like Anushka and Naveen are ready to accept new stories. Fun and emotions in Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty will give a new feel to the audience. There will be a moral in the film. Regarding the title, I have read a heading in the paper that says Shetty with Polishetty. I liked that rhyming and hence named the film Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty.
What’s the film about?
It is about a lady who doesn’t want to get married but feels happy to be a mother. For that, she takes the help of a youngster. We told the same in the trailer and prepared the audience for the film. I am fully confident that the audience will enjoy the film tomorrow. I assure you that the audience won’t feel uncomfortable in any scene. Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty will be entertaining as well as emotional. We are arranging a special show for Kollywood directors in Chennai tomorrow. The story is universal, and hence, we are releasing the movie in major Indian languages, including Hindi.
How did you feel when Chiranjeevi Garu appreciated you?
It was a very special moment. When I wrote the story, I knew where the audience would get excited. Chiranjeevi Garu spoke about such little details. Up to ten people in Chiranjeevi Garu’s family, including Surekha Garu, watched our film. Chiru Sir called me and Naveen home and spent almost half an hour with us discussing about the film.
