Macho Star Gopichand and Kannada director A Harsha have joined hands for Bhimma, a cop drama set to open in cinemas this Friday. On this occasion, we met with the producer, KK Radhamohan, for a brief interview, and here is the transcript.
How did the journey of Bhimaa begin?
Our co-producer Sridhar and director Harsha pitched the story to Gopichand, who loved it and suggested me for the project. Excited by the narrative and our past collaboration, I decided to team up with him again. In Bhimaa, Gopichand will surprise audiences with a fresh portrayal, diverging from his usual police roles. Expect unexpected twists, including a new persona unveiled on release day.
Can you provide insights into Gopichand’s character in Bhimaa?
Gopichand’s character in Bhimaa defies the conventional portrayal of a strict police officer. While the trailer showcases one facet, audiences can expect a blend of romance, situational comedy, and unexpected twists, showcasing Gopichand’s versatility as an actor.
Are there any similarities between Bhimaa and Akhanda?
Let me clarify: while the trailer may suggest common elements, Bhimaa explores an entirely different genre. The glimpses of the Lord Shiva temple and Aghoras merely serve to set the stage for a unique narrative, distinct from Akhanda.
What was it like working with director Harsha?
Working with director Harsha has been a delight. His clarity and diverse talents, evident from his work on Bengal Tiger, brought a fresh perspective to Bhimaa. Beyond his directing prowess, his background as a choreographer added depth to the film. He also choreographed two songs in Bhimaa.
Tell us about the heroines in the film
Both Malavika Nair and Priya Bhavani Shankar bring distinctive characterizations to Bhimaa. Priya Bhavani’s commanding role is particularly noteworthy, while Malavika’s character shares a captivating romantic arc with Gopichand, enriching the narrative.
What are your next projects?
We’re currently working on a Hindi movie featuring Ayush Sharma, which we are planning to release on April 26, 2024. Additionally, we have another project in the pipeline with Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Vijay Kanakamedala. More details will be updated in the near future.
