What are your expectations on Rama Banam?
We forayed into film production with an aim to produce and release good movies. We followed the same principle for Dhamaka and Rama Banam now. When our director Sriwass came to us with Rama Banam script, we did decided to make it on a grand scale. We are quite happy with the way the movie has shaped up.
What are the main highlights of Rama Banam?
Sriwass has written a full-fledged, wholesome family entertainer laced with action and emotions. The brother sentiment scenes, the lavish production values and the star csst, featuring Gopichand, Jagapathi Babu, Khushboo and Dimple Hayathi are the main highlights of the movie.
How has your journey from IT to film production been?
I am basically an IT business person and I am still running that business successfully. I forayed into film production purely out of passion. I studied the nuances of film production for 2 years before taking the plunge. If you ask me in terms of financial aspects, there’s no comparison between films and IT businesses, as IT is far more profitable. That said, People Media Factory is a successful venture.
Any plans to expand your wings to other film industries?
We entered film production with an aim to produce numerous movies in a factory model. We have already produced three Kannada and a few Tamil movies. We had also produced Anushka’s Nishabdham, which was a Hollywood crossover. We have major plans to produce movies in all major Indian languages in the next few years. We have at least 30 to 40 projects that are in various stages of production.
How did you come up with Rama Banam title?
It was Nandamuri Balakrishna garu who had suggested the title Rama Banam to us. We were exploring several titles initially. But we felt that Rama Banam was the perfect title as ours is a family entertainer and we decided to finalize it.
Why did you cast action hero Gopichand in a family entertainer?
Rama Banam is a family entertainer, but it is loaded with thrilling action episodes too and Gopichand’s fans.l will be delighted to see them on the big screen. The essence and spirit of each family entertainer are distinct and unique even though most family entertainers seem similar.
How much do you involve in the making of a movie?
At People Media Factory, we are not just making movies. We are building an entire ecosystem to support the film industry. Our focus is on creating the required infrastructure to facilitate the process of filmmaking. We don’t involve ourselves in the creative side of making movies as we believe in giving total freedom to our directors and crew to translate their vision to life and make the best possible movies.
Any plans to venture into the OTT world?
These days, OTT has a significant role in film business as the non-theatrical revenue is just about 50 percent. So yeah, we have been doing exciting content for OTT for quite some time. We will announce more details at an appropriate time.
