There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the release of Suriya’s Kanguva. The movie, directed by Siruthai Siva, is based on the concept of past life. The makers spent a bomb on this PAN Indian film, and they are hopeful that Kanguva will be Kollywood’s first 1000-crore grosser. We have often reported that Tamil films could not leave a mark in Hindi as they are continuously failing to adhere to the 8-week OTT window rule set by the Multiplex Association of India.
Jailer, Leo, and Vikram arrived on OTT within a month, and hence, their Hindi versions weren’t released in the three national chains. Kanguva won’t have that issue as the makers struck a strategic deal with Amazon Prime Video. Accordingly, the Hindi version will have its digital release only after eight weeks, whereas the other versions will be out on Prime four weeks after the theatrical release.
In a recent interview, producer Dhananjeyan stated that Kanguva’s Hindi version will have a mammoth release on 3000 screens in the Hindi belt. This includes Telugu and Tamil versions, but the showcasing for the Hindi version will be huge compared to the southern versions. According to Dhananjeyan, Kanguva will open in cinemas in two months. He made it clear that the movie will be released in 2024 itself.
