Today marks the centenary birth year of Tollywood’s legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Akkineni family, fans, and moviebuffs are celebrating this special occasion through the re-release of some of ANR’s timeless classics. Nagarjuna and family also attended a special event where a big announcement was made.
Akkineni International Foundation instituted the ANR National Award in honor of the Tollywood icon. This award will be given to celebrities every year for their lifetime achievements and contributions to the Indian film industry. The latest update is that the ANR National Award will be given to Padma Vibhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi this year.
Nagarjuna himself made this revelation at the ANR centenary celebrations. Nagarjuna said, “A special event will be held on 28th October, and none other than Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan Garu will present the award to Chiranjeevi Garu.”
Nagarjuna added, “We are trying to give this award every year. When I informed Chiranjeevi Garu about our decision, he became very emotional and hugged me. He told me that this was the biggest award in his life. We are delighted to announce this news.”
