It has been a tumultuous journey for the Tollywood trade so far this year. Barring Hanu-Man and Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s Kalki 2898 AD, no other movie released this year succeeded in bringing cheers to its distributors. Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Ram’s Double iSmart, Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan and Eagle suffered losses in several areas. Even though movies like Tillu Square, Om Bheem Bush, Committee Kurrollu, Aay, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, and the recently released Mathu Vadalara 2 made some noise at the box office, the trade is in search of yet another massive blockbuster to revive hopes.

In this scenario, the box office success of the upcoming biggies such as Devara: Part 1, Pushpa The Rule, and Ram Charan’s Game Changer becomes inevitable. Devara, starring NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, is gearing up for its theatrical release on September 27 amid positive buzz and sky-high expectations. Close to Rs 200 crores are riding on this pan-India action drama. NTR’s newfound stardom across the country post RRR will surely give Devara a big boost at the box office.

On the other hand, Allu Arjun’s National Award-winning pan-India action drama, Pushpa The Rule, is slated for release across the world on December 6. The Sukumar directorial is a sequel to the highly successful Pushpa: The Rise. Needless to say, the hype and expectations for the sequel are humongous, and the film looks sure to recreate the pan-India euphoria the prequel had created in 2021. Speculations are rife that Pushpa 2 has pocketed close to a whopping Rs 1,000 crore from the pre-release deals.

Finally, all eyes are on Ram Charan and Shankar’s mega pan-India political drama, Game Changer. In addition to Ram Charan’s popularity following RRR’s massive success, Bollywood actress Kiara Advani playing the leading lady has generated a decent buzz for Game Changer in the North. The film is slated for release during the Christmas season, and it will be the last Tollywood biggie to hit theaters in 2024.
