Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT is performing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu and international markets. The action drama directed by Venkat Prabhu features Vijay in dual roles as father and son. The biggie has earned close to Rs. 280 crores in four days at the global box office. Today’s numbers in Tamil Nadu will be bigger than Indian 2’s opening (Rs. 12 crores), and the movie will also surpass the Rs. 300 crores gross mark.
However, the performance in Telugu is disappointing, to say the least. The director recently participated in a Twitter space, during which he made an interesting comment. Venkat Prabhu opined that the scenes highlighting CSK did not sit well with Telugu and Hindi audiences and cited it as the reason for GOAT’s underperformance in Telugu states and the Hindi belt.
This comment is now drawing mixed reactions from netizens. AGS Entertainment bankrolled this high-budget film. The GOAT also has Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sneha Prabhudeva, Jayaram, Prashanth, Mohan, and others in key roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the tunes. Trisha played a cameo.
