The audio launch of Rana Daggubati’s ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’ took place yesterday evening at Cinemax in Hyderabad. The audio album has been composed by Mani Sharma and there are 6 songs in all, with one instrumental theme. Nayanatara is the heroine in this movie and Krish is the director. This action entertainer is gearing up for a November launch. Let us see how the audio album is.
1, Song: Are re Pasi Manasa
Singers: Narendra, Sravana Bhargavi
Lyrics : Seetharama Sastry
A romantic duet penned by Seetharama Sastry, ‘Are re Pasi Manasa’ is a fresh sounding track which has been rendered well by Narendra and Sravana Bhargavi. Seetharama Sastry’s lyrics are poetic as always. Mani Sharma’s music blends in nicely with the mood of the song, with stringed and percussion instruments dominating the musical score. This track grows on you after you listen to it a few times.
2.Song: Sye andre naanu
Singers: Shreya Ghosal, Rahul Silpigunj/Deepu
Lyrics: E.S.Murthy
This is the item song of the movie and its feel is very similar to “Rajasekhara” song from Leader. Shreya Ghosal does a terrific job with the vocals and her energy levels make the song a fun number to listen to. The lyrics are a mixture of Kannada and Telugu. Mani Sharma’s music is sufficiently rustic and has good pace. With Sameera Reddy set to shake a leg for this rustic tune, expect some highly titillating visuals. We have heard reports that Victory Venkatesh will make a special appearance in this song.
3.Song: Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum
Singers: Dr. S.P.Balasubrahmanyam
Lyrics: Seetharama Sastry
Two things are abundantly clear when you listen to this song. No one can infuse powerful emotions into a rousing melody like Dr. S.P.Balasubrahmanyam can. And no living Telugu writer can write like Seetharama Sastry (With the exception of C. Narayana Reddy). Together, they elevate this number to an all new level. Mani Sharma’s music here seems to have been heavily ‘inspired’ by Hans Zimmer. Still, it is a pretty solid musical score. Though a tad long, at 9 minutes 24 seconds, there is profound philosophy in this song. Thumbs up!
4.Song: Spicy Spicy Girl
Singers: Hemachandra, Chaitra, Sravana Bhargavi
Lyrics: Seetharama Sastry
I had to check twice to see if this song was really written by Seetharama Sastry! ‘Spicy Spicy Girl’ is a duet with a very modern feel. Hemachandra, Chaitra and Sravana Bhargavi are just about ok with the vocals. Mani Sharma’s music here is nothing to write home about. A strictly ok number that will only work if it has good visuals.
5.Song: Ranga Marthanda
Singers: Raghu Babu, Hemachandra, Sai Madhav Burra
Lyrics: Sai Madhav Burra
This is a funny 3 minute song that will most likely be used as a backdrop for the ‘natakam’ scenes in the movie, perhaps even for Rana’s introduction. Comedy actor Raghu Babu lends his voice for a few lines. Sai Madhav Burra’s lyrics are ok. Heavy use of the synthesizer can be felt in the music.
6.Song: Chal Chal Chal
Singers: Joanna
Lyrics: Sai Madhav Burra
This is a solo number that has been rendered by Joanna. The track has a club song feel to it and it will be interesting to see how it is shot. Music is ok and there is nothing special about this number. Sai Madhav Burra’s lyrics are nothing to write home about.
7. Song : Parinamam (Evolution theme)
This is a very nicely composed instrumental bit that once again has a heavy Hans Zimmer influence. At 6 minutes and 39 seconds, the track is long and it may most likely be used during key montage sequences in the movie. With a superb use of the orchestra, this track is very nice to listen to.
Verdict :
Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’s album is promising. For me, three songs are very good – ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’, ‘Are re Pasi Manasa’ and ‘Sye andre naanu’. The instrumental score ‘Parinamam’ is pretty solid as well. When you listen to these tracks, you are reminded of a vintage Mani Sharma. The theme song ‘Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum’, in particular, deserves special appreciation for the way it has been composed and recorded. This is perhaps Rana’s most promising commercial album so far and with director Krish at the helm, should work well visually.
