Rajamouli’s RRR is up for a release on 25th March. On this occasion, we met NTR for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

Were you disappointed that the film was postponed at the last minute?

Initially, I was very disappointed that all our hard work got wasted. But somewhere down the line, I had confidence that whenever the film comes, it will be a massive hit.

Describe your most memorable day in the RRR shoot?

Every day was a memorable moment for me. Shooting with Charan, working with Alia were superb. But the most memorable was shooting for the interval bang. We shot for sixty nights and the shoot took a toll on me physically and mentally.

Did corona scare you?

Initially, I was not that scared. But when I was affected, I was very tense. We shot amidst the cases and there was a tense atmosphere on the sets most of the time.

Did you do any workshops before the shoot?

No, we did not do any workshops. There was a lot of meeting between me, Rajamouli, and Charan. I can vouch for Charan and say that we blindly did what Rajamouli told us to do.

Did you watch the film?

We have not seen the film yet. Rajamouli has kept it away from us for a long time now and as per my knowledge, we will watch it two days from now. I am super excited.

About fans comparison between Charan and you?

The days of fans fighting for their heroes have gone away long back. They just want to see their heroes in a solid manner. When it comes to Rajamouli films, they remember only the characters and not the stars.

How hard was playing Bheem in RRR?

It was a bit different as there was no referral point. This also became an advantage as I went with an open mind and give the character my own twist. Bheem is a very powerful yet innocent character. You will love him.

How tough is it working with Rajamouli?

Rajamouli has always been a tough taskmaster. But in this film, he wanted something else from me. As he is the only director who knows my full potential, he pushed me so hard to bring out the best.

Working experience with Alia Bhatt?

She is a top actress and working with her was a good cultural exchange. She is like an ocean of talent that should be utilized to full potential. It was so lovely to work with her on RRR.

About Ram Charan’s performance?

RRR is Ram Charan’s best performance to date. He has played Ram on another level and his fans will just love his role. Shooting with him on a daily basis was so much fun. We are like brothers now
