Young actor Sai Ronak and talented actress Avika Gor will be together seen in the film Popcorn. Directed by Murali Naga Srinivas Gandham, this is a rom-com entertainer. The movie is produced by Madhupalli Bhogendra Gupta of Acharya Creations. The film is hitting the theatres tomorrow. Ahead of the release, we interacted with Avik Gor, who also is the co-producer for the film. Here is the transcript.
How did Popcorn start?
Popcorn started when our director Murali narrated me the script. It is a very different concept. 90% of Popcorn happens inside a lift. It is very challenging for an actor as we need to hold our audience’s attention for about 2 hours and 13 minutes with two faces (Sai Ronak and Avika Gor). Either content or mass masala films are performing well these days. So we tried to balance the film with good content and performances.
What made you produce the film?
Once I heard the script, I understood that it needed more attention and time from me. As actors, we go to the set, come back, and then promote the film. But as a producer, one needs to think and involve in various ways. I wanted to experience it. I always wanted to become a producer and fulfilled my wish with Popcorn.
How is the working experience with Sai Ronak?
He is amazing. Sai Ronak is one of the best co-stars I have worked with. He is extremely talented and humbled. On sets, I wanted somebody who is excited to work and hardworking at the same time. That’s the reason we chose Sai Ronak. I was the one who suggested my director cast him in the movie.
Did you have apprehensions about the film?
I was very scared. 90% of the film happens in one location with two actors. It can get boring for the viewers. I love watching movies in theatres, and it was hard for me to believe in this kind of script. There are songs in the film too. I started believing in the script slowly.
Can you talk about the shooting process? Did you shoot in a set or a real lift?
We created a set with four walls that were movable. So we could shift them according to the camera requirements. It was very interesting, and I haven’t done this before. We started to love the process, and the same was reflected in the performances.
Are you happy with your career?
I am very happy. Every script that I have done, and every movie that I have worked on, I really believed in my roles. My character in Thank You is beautifully designed by Vikram sir. All the characters I have played are close to my heart.
Can you tell us about your future projects?
I am working on a couple of Telugu projects. I cannot leave the Telugu industry as I am getting so much love here. The announcements of those two projects will happen soon. One announcement I can make now is that I am getting launched in Hindi. Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt are launching me with the film 1920.
