Mega Prince Varun Tej and director Praveen Sattaru have teamed up for an action thriller Gandeevadhari Arjuna and the movie is up for release this Friday. On this occasion, we met with the mega hero for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.
What made you choose to do Gandeevadhari Arjuna?
When I was busy shooting for Ghani, Praveen Sattaru mentioned that he had an action-packed subject. He later narrated the story to me. Apart from the action aspect, what intrigued me the most was the story’s core theme, which hadn’t been explored in Telugu cinema before. I listened to the story and immediately gave my approval.
Could you tell us about Gandeevadhari Arjuna?
The film sheds light on an issue that we all tend to overlook in our daily lives. Even though we are aware of the problem, we continue to move forward without addressing it. The story revolves not only around global warming but also about many issues like how individuals are dumping debris and how industries contribute to global warming by dumping garbage in third world countries and engaging in activities that lead to global warming.
The movie doesn’t intend to deliver a direct message, but the audience will come out with a heightened awareness after watching it. We’ve tried to present a serious matter in an engaging and entertaining manner.
What prompted the choice of a Telugu title?
The idea for the title came from Praveen, and once you’ve watched the movie, you’ll find that the title suits the concept perfectly. I also felt that it was the right title for this movie.
Can you share some insights into your character?
I’m not portraying a raw agent or a spy in this movie. Instead, I’m playing the role of a security agent assigned to protect Nassar garu’s character.
How was your experience working with Praveen Sattaru?
I’ve been a fan of Praveen’s previous films, and when he narrated the script, I readily agreed due to his clear vision. He knows precisely what he wants to achieve and is dedicated to his work.
Did the budget increase for Gandeevadhari Arjuna?
The budget increased as we shot a significant portion of the film in London. Unfortunately, weather conditions weren’t on our side, and sudden rain disrupted our plans, causing us to lose an entire day’s shoot. This is why we decided to complete the remaining shoot in Hungary. Such unforeseen challenges led to the budget increase.
Tell us about Sakshi Vaidya
When I first met her on set, she appeared to be very ordinary. However, I was completely taken aback when she flawlessly delivered a three-page dialogue. Her dedication and commitment to her work left me stunned. She has a promising future ahead in the industry.
Any plans to turn this movie into a franchise?
Although it has potential, we currently have no plans to turn it into a franchise.
What are your upcoming projects?
The shooting for Operation Valentine is wrapped up, and I only have a couple of days left to complete. I also need to finish my dubbing for it. As for Matka, audiences will see me portraying four different timelines, ranging from the age of 21 to 48. It’s going to be a unique experience for me. I’ll share more details about my future projects in the coming days.
