Ghani is up for a release on the 8th of April. On this occasion, we caught up with the film’s producers, Allu Bobby and Siddhu Mudda. Here is the transcript.
Ghani is releasing two weeks after RRR? Don’t you think it is risky?
Allu Bobby says that Ghani is coming after two weeks post RRR and the way they looked at it is different. “We feel that most of the audience would be done watching RRR by then. As we also are quite confident about our subject, we took the decision”.
How did this movie materialize?
Siddhu Mudda says that Varun and director Kiran Korrapati were in touch for a long time now. He further adds by saying that it was Varun Tej’s idea to do a sports drama and as Kiran came up with the idea of Ghani, we loved it and kick-started the project.
How different is this film from other sports dramas?
Allu Bobby says that at the time this project was locked four years back, there were not many sports dramas being made in Telugu. He further adds by saying that the journey of a sportsman in any sports drama is different. Here in Ghani Varun’s personal turmoil is the biggest highlight of the film.
Tell us about the shooting process of the film?
Siddhu Mudda says that they wanted to show this boxing film on a big canvas. That is the reason, they put up a huge set in an indoor stadium for the boxing matches. Siddhu further adds by saying that once they wrapped up the first schedule, Covid came in, and from there, they had to see so many issues production-wise. But as they believed in their project, they hung in are ready with a release.
Why did you name the film Ghani?
Allu Bobby says that from day one, they wanted to name the film Ganesh. As Varun also worked on Gaddalakonda Ganesh, it was a perfect choice. But somehow things changed and the word Ghani stuck in the mind and we confirmed it.
About the vast star cast of the film?
Allu Bobby says that Ghani has big names like Upendra, Sunil Shetty, and many more noted faces. Every role is quite key to the film and is connected in a very strong manner to the script. The audience will surely love the roles of these legendary actors.
About Varun Tej’s transformation?
Siddhu Mudda says that Varun has gone through so much in life to achieve this look. He went abroad and took proper training in boxing. Also, the manner in which he worked on his body is there for us all to see. A transformation video will very soon be released to show what Varun went through for this film.
About director Kiran Korrapati’s work for Ghani?
Siddhu Muddha says that Kiran had given us multiple narrations and has made the film exactly what was on paper. He is a talent to watch out for and even though it is his first film, he has narrated the sports drama in a stunning manner.
Finally, what took you so long to become a producer?
Allu Bobby says that though he was not in front of the camera he worked on the ticketing portal which will soon be confirmed by the official portal for tickets in the state of AP. He also adds that he was the one who introduced the Qube technology in Telugu. Now that the time has come to make a proper debut as a producer, I happened to hear the story of Ghani and am finally here with the release.
