We all know that comedian M S Narayana’s daughter, Sasi Kiran is making her directorial debut with Saheba Subramanyam. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with Sasi for an exclusive interview. Let’s see what she has to say.
What inspired you to get into direction ?
Even before my dad became a comedian, he was a writer and director. I was highly inspired by his work, and decided to get into direction. Initially, I worked in the television industry and after gaining enough experience, I made my foray into films.
Why did you choose a remake as your debut film ?
It was my producers decision to remake this Malayalam film. However, I have made enough changes to the script to suit our nativity.
The Malayalam version had some experienced stars. Why did you choose newcomers for the remake ?
Even though it is a remake, our Telugu script required complete new comers as the lead stars. Dilip Kumar and Priya Gor have done a wonderful job in this film and suits their roles perfectly well.
There are so many love stories releasing now a days. How different is your film ?
Our love story is quite different from the others, as it has been presented in quite an interesting and fresh way.
What are the major highlights of this film ?
Shaan Rehman’s music, visuals and the way the characters have been dealt with are the major highlights of this film.
You are releasing your film with Lingaa. Don’t you think it is a big risk ?
There is no comparison or competition with Lingaa. Our film is quite different, and will definitely find its place among the other releases.
Did your dad watch the film. What was his reaction ?
He had his own doubts before I started the film. But after he watched the film, he was quite happy and praised me for my work.
