Akhil Akkineni’s spy action thriller Agent is all set to arrive in theatres on 28th April. The movie, directed by Surender Reddy, has Mammootty in an important role. Sakshi Vaidya is the female lead, and Anil Sunkara produced Agent under AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema. Hip Hop Tamizha scored the tunes. Ahead of the release, the film’s producer interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.

Are you excited about Agent’s release, or are you feeling nervous?

To be honest, I am having more pressure. It’s not because of the result. All the ones who are associated with the movie have been working day and night for the last 30 days, and still, work is going on. There is more CG involved.

Don’t you think the comparisons with English spy films will affect Agent?

I will be very happy if they compare Agent with James Bonds’s films. Even if they say our film is 10% of James Bonds films, I will be extremely delighted. If we can reach international standards, that will obviously be an outstanding achievement.

Can you confidently say that Agent will hit the bull’s eye?

None can say that in the entire world. I can only say that this film will set a new standard in Akhil’s career. One thing I am very sure about is Akhil’s career will be classified as before Agent and after Agent post the film’s release.

Will there be fun portions in Agent?

Akhil’s character will itself be entertaining. The protagonist enjoys what he does. There won’t be any connection to Jackie Chan, but there will be a quirky comedy.

Will you think about the hero’s market before starting a film?

Generally, if it is a commercial film, then we will have certain calculations. But it also depends on who is directing the movie. For Agent, we achieved more business than what we have expected.

Will you be comfortable with big-budget films or small-budget films?

It depends on the situation. Now it is good to make a big-budget film. If it is a heavy-budget film, and if the movie becomes a hit, the brand value increases enormously. But financially, small-budget films are less risky. Both small and big-budget films have their own advantages and disadvantages.
