Kajal is back after her marriage with her new film Mosagallu. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with her for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
What attracted you to this film?
When the script came to me, I loved my role and the way my character does the scam along with her brother. This aspects itself was different and now that times are changing, I grabbed it with both hands.
Your reaction after knowing Vishnu will play your brother?
I did not find it weird at all. I looked at the film from the character’s point of view. Both me and Vishnu are the main leads and carry out the scam. So, when the role itself is so strong it does not matter if he plays my brother or boyfriend.
How different was it to shoot the film in English?
It was quite difficult to shoot in multiple languages. The most tiring part was to shoot in English as the scenes were quite long. In India, we know how our scenes get edited and we stop acting right when the director says cut. But in Hollywood, the entire scene is canned in a lengthy manner and the camera keeps rolling. It was a very difficult job for me’
About your marriage and shooting post the pandemic?
We all were stuck due to the COVID and this is also the time I decided to get married. The wedding was a private affair and I am so happy I chose the right man. We stayed home for a long time and I was so thrilled when I reached the sets of Acharya.
One irritating habit about your husband?
I am a morning person and he is not. I don’t like this routine of his and we always get into a quarrel about the daily routine. Otherwise, he is very proud of my work and has been through the thick and thin in my life.
Response to the failure of your OTT debut Live Telecast?
I was sad but cannot do much about it and have moved ahead in life. My husband was a bit disappointed and wanted to know what went wrong and how many people watched the show.
You have been around for a long time. Any dream role you want to do?
I have not done a mythological film to date and would love to do such a project. I want to play these key roles in such films which showcase me in the best way possible.
Future projects
I have started shooting with Chiru sir for Acharya. I have signed two Tamil films and have also okayed an action film with Nagarjuna as of now. A few more projects are in the pipeline as well.
