Interview : Manchu Vishnu – I am super nervous about Mosagallu’s outcome
Published on Mar 17, 2021 5:50 pm IST

Vishnu Manchu has given his heart and soul for Mosagallu that will be out this Friday. On this occasion, we spoke to Vishnu for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

How tense are you about the film’s release?

I am very tense and having sleepless nights due to the release of the film. Every actor goes through this, but for me, things are even tougher as I have produced the film and have spent more than what was required.

What attracted you to this story?

I came to know about this story when I was in the US. I was taken back after knowing that an Indian brother and sister cheated so many Americans with their scam. The manner in which a brother and sister attempted this and pulled it off drove me into making this film.

What kind of preparation went into making this film?

After deciding to make this film, I wrote the first draft of the film. For the Telugu version, we added a lot of sentiment and for this, I took a lot of help from writer Diamond Ratna Babu. We made the film in English and Telugu simultaneously.

Reason behind taking Kajal to play the sister’s role?

When the story was set, we had Priety Zinta in mind and even approached her. But Priety was quite cool and told that she could not do this film for personal reasons. So, when I thought of a star heroine, Kajal was the obvious choice and she loved the script.

What was Mohan Babu’s reaction after watching this film?
I have a habit of showing the rushes of the films to my dad to know his reaction. So, when half of the film was done, I showed it to my dad. He had many doubts. So, I understood that the Telugu version should have more scenes that will diversify the plot and make things clearer for the audience.
How did your family react on you taking such a risk?

More than anyone, I was bothered about my dad and Vini my wife. They are so tensed that I have spent more than what was needed. At a point, I hated myself for putting them in so much tension with the budget and release. But as I loved the story, I went through.

You started by shooting the film in English. What made you do it in Telugu as well?

Right from day one, this film was supposed to be shot in English. But as time passed, we thought it would be commercially viable to make this film in Telugu. So, we did it for the Telugu audience as well.

Future Projects

As a producer, I am producing three web series as of now. All the details will be revealed by the end of April. As of now, I am focused on Mosagallu and how it will be received.

About your film with Sreenu Vaitla?

We were supposed to start the film by this time but it got delayed as Sreenu garu is still busy with the script. He wants me to get into a beefed look and it is taking the time.
