Young actor Kiran Abbavaram’s new movie Meter is all set for a grand release in theaters on April 7, 2023. On this occasion, we met with the film’s producer Chiranjeevi (Cherry) for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

Tell us about Meter

You all have seen the response to the teaser and trailer of our film Meter. We are happy with the film’s output. I’m expecting that the movie will entertain audiences. This is my first ever out-and-out commercial entertainer. Whatever the film is, the story should be strong. Ramesh Kaduri came up with a wonderful story and I decided to produce it.

What’s your comment about comparing this movie with others?

See, it’s nothing like that. Our director is very much inspired by Anil Ravipudi and Bobby Kolli. So, some of the scenes you have seen in the promotional material may have their impressions.

Tell us about Kiran Abbavaram

Kiran Abbavaram has the ease to do any kind of role. In Meter, he played an energetic and dynamic hero role. He suited the actor well and delivered what the director expected from him. Meter is the most expensive film in the career of Kiran Abbavaram.

Is Kiran Abbavaram your first choice?

At first, debutant director Ramesh planned to make this movie with big actors. He even gave a narration to a few stars. Their dates issue made Ramesh narrate the story to Kiran Abbavaram after SR Kalyanamandapam. He okayed the script and the film happened instantly.

What’s your comment on Meter’s budget?

The film’s budget was increased than we thought and I agree with that. We decided to film Chammak Chammak Pori lavishly and spent the money it required. Though the budget is high, we are happy with the output and you will see it on big screens.

Way of watching movies changed after Covid. What do you say?

We need to agree that audiences have changed the way they watch movies. Post Covid, factors like a hike in tickets and eateries prices have changed the mindset of people. Still many people consider watching movies in theaters only but the percentage has decreased over the last 3 years.

Future projects

My next project is with director Ritesh Rana of Mathu Vadalara fame. Another movie with a debutant director will be announced soon. I will reveal all the details at the appropriate time.
