Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya is up for a grand theatrical release on April 29, 2022. So, we met with the actor Ram Charan for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

How did you join the cast of Acharya?

At first, I became a part of Acharya as a producer-only but later I joined the cast to play Siddha. Initially, my character’s length is only 15 minutes long. Eventually, it was extended to 45 minutes. Siddha’s character is one of the most special roles I have ever played in my career. You will enjoy my scenes, especially with Chiranjeevi garu.

Tell us about your role in the movie?

My role, Siddha, is quite in contrast to Chiranjeevi’s Acharya. Siddha is a guy who believes in Ahimsa and Dharma. But, a conflict with the antagonist Sonu Sood makes him follow a different path. Acharya and Siddha fight for the same cause and you need to watch it on screen.

Working experience with your father Chiranjeevi?

He is a legendary actor. He used to be on the sets even before my arrival (laughs). He also allowed me to do mistakes to learn from them. He used to correct and guide me while shooting for Acharya. It’s a great pleasure working with my father.

Any plans to make Acharya a Pan-Indian film?

For now, we have no such plans to release Acharya in other languages. It takes a lot of process to dub and does post-production works for other versions. We will release Acharya in Hindi later but not very soon.

How are you feeling to do back-to-back films without any gap?

Firstly, I want to clear a thing that Acharya is not my film and it’s Chiranjeevi’s. I just played a supporting role in the film. So, it’s not my film. I feel so good about working restlessly. After RRR, I worked on this project and of course busy with Shankar’s film right now. It’s all about entertaining you.

Your opinion about South India’s supremacy?

It’s so delightful to see the rage of South Indian movies in Hindi. My father used to say that the then people used to talk about super actors in Bollywood only. Now, the entire nation is talking about our movies like KGF 2, RRR and others. I am also feeling proud of being a part of it.

Association with Siva Koratala?

Koratala Siva garu has a good vision. When it comes to my character, he made my work so easy. He didn’t let me strain much because he put 90% of the effort while shooting my scenes and I took care of the rest.

Working experience with Pooja Hegde?

Earlier, I worked with her in Rangasthalam for a special song. Now, the screen time has been increased (laughs). She is so active and a very good actress. I am really proud of her because she is a part of many recent releases. She played Neelambari in this film and she fits the role very well.

Your next projects?

Currently, I am busy working for Shankar’s cinema and as you see, I am playing an IAS officer in the movie. My next is with Jersey director Gautam Tinnanuri. It’s a very good subject and of course, it’s not a sports drama. I will announce some more projects in the coming days.
