Thaman

S S Thaman has been one of the prolific music composers in the recent past. His latest album, Race Gurram is going great guns and has added much hype for the film. On the eve of Race Gurram’s release, we caught up with S S Thaman for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q) How is the response for the audio so far ?

A) The response has been amazing. I have been working on this album for the past one year, and I feel that the album will become a even bigger hit after the release of the film.

Q) Allu Arjun is so used to working with Devi Sri Prasad. Were you nervous before you started this album ?

A) Yes ! I was a bit nervous initially, but I challenged myself that I should do better music than their previous films and prove a point.

Q) How was it working with Allu Arjun. Did he share any inputs ?

A) Yes! Bunny shared a lot of inputs regarding the type of music he wanted. We used to have a lot of discussions and in fact, Bunny has made my songs look even more energetic with his stunning dances.

Q) Have any of your tunes been rejected by Bunny or Surender Reddy.

A) No ! none of my tunes were rejected. For the title song itself, we made three versions and had a lot of choice to pick the best.

Q) What is you take on Race Gurram ?

A) The movie has come out well, and looks exceptionally stylish. The music is already a hit, and I hope the film also follow on becoming a success.

Q) How was it working with your mentor Surender Reddy ?

A) Oh ! Suri is like family. He is open to ideas, and never hesitates to even take suggestions from the youngest member on the sets. I had complete freedom on this album, and I hope I did not disappoint him.

Q) How are you balancing your Telugu and Tamil move careers ?

A) Right now, I am concentrating more on Tollywood as I have some bigger projects in hand. In Tamil, I am taking one step after the other and will soon compose for bigger banners and stars.

Q) How different is the music scene when compared to Telugu and Tamil ?

A) There is so much difference in music cultures. Here in Telugu, I need to keep the star, his fans and everything in mind while composing the song. Where as in Tamil, the emphasis is more on the song rather than the outside factors.

Q) What do you do in your free time ?

A) While I am not working, I play cricket. My entire team plays cricket every single day after we pack up. I am very passionate about the game and a huge fan of Dhoni.

Q) Your future plans and projects ?

A) I wish to set up a music school in Hyderabad. Coming to films, I have Rabhasa, Aagadu and Govindudu Andarivadele in the pipeline.
