Ghani is all set for a release this Friday and on this occasion, we caught up with the heroine Saiee Manjrekar for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
How did you bag the offer of Ghani?
I got this offer three years back. Our director Kiran came to Mumbai and narrated the script. I loved it right away and felt that it would be a perfect launchpad for me in Telugu.
Your father Mahesh Manjrekar has done so much work in Telugu. What were his suggestions?
My dad sat with me and helped me out with the lines in Telugu. He taught me how to remember lengthy dialogues and how to pronounce them. Also, my producers arranged for an Ad that helped me with my Telugu lines.
Working with the likes of Varun Tej?
Varun has been the sweetest co-star I worked with. He has helped me so much during the making. After a point, I would go to Varun a number of times for help and he would do it without any hesitation. He has worked so hard on the film and will impress one and all.
Tell us about your character in the film?
I play a girl called Maya who is exactly like me in real life. She is bubbly and full of life. I had fun shooting for this film and the director has showcased me in the most wonderful manner.
Ghani was postponed multiple times. How did you feel?
I was not disappointed one bit. I believe in destiny a lot and everything happens for a reason. I am glad that the film is having a solo release and has created a good buzz for itself.
Tell us about your other Telugu film Major?
Major is also releasing soon and I am super excited for that film as well. I play an entirely different role in Major which is an intense action drama. I want my parents and friends to watch it as I have a very good role.
About director Kiran Korrapati?
He was so helpful during the making of the film. I would go and ask him so many questions about my character. He has etched a very good role for me and I am dying to see myself on screen.
Is your father helping you with selecting films in Telugu?
Not only in Telugu but in other languages as well, my father and mother help me out with the script selection. As they have been in the industry for such a long time, they have good experience and know what is best for me. I have listened to a few Telugu scripts and will finalize one in the days to come.
