Young actor Santosh Soban’s next theatrical release is Anni Manchi Sakunamule, helmed by Nandhini Reddy. Malvika Nair is playing the leading lady. Micky J Meyer composed the tunes. This family entertainer has an ensemble cast of Sowcar Janaki, Rajendra Prasad, Gauthami, Rao Ramesh, Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Vasuki, Ramya Subramanian, and Anju Alvika Naik in vital roles. Priyanka Dutt produced the movie. Ahead of the release on 18th May, we had a brief interaction with Santosh Sobhan, and here is the transcript.

How did the film commence?

I received my first advance cheque from Priyanka Dutt Garu. After five years, I got the right project at the right time. I am happy and very grateful as this happened. When I heard the story, I didn’t know who the artists were, but I knew that the film would have a lot of padding artists. I am happy to have worked with Priyanka Garu and Nandini Reddy Garu.

Which elements of the movie’s story attracted you?

Working with a director like Nandhini Reddy Garu is one of the best things to have happened to me. Ala Modhalaindi and Golconda High School were released in a span of weekdays. I extremely liked Ala Modhalaindi, and it has redefined the rom-com genre like the way Kushi and Toliprema did.

Do you believe Anni Manchi Sakunamule will bring a good omen to your career?

I haven’t come across a story like Anni Manchi Sakunamule in my career. I am not degrading my other films, but I can say that this is my biggest film to date. Anni Manchi Sakunamule is a film that needs to be watched on big screens. I am happy that such a film happened in my career.

Is the film a rom-com entertainer or a family entertainer?

The movie’s strength lies in drama and emotion. There will be fun, but the movie will also move you to tears. Nandhini Reddy Garu is good at making these kinds of films. The movie will be very refreshing, with more emphasis on emotions.

What influence your father has over you?

By the time he left us, I was too young to understand what cinema is. When I look back at his work, I start getting influenced. He is a fabulous writer, and I wish I had spent more time discussing movies and life with him. My father is really ahead of his time.

There is a complaint that you are doing way too many films. What’s your take on this?

To be frank, I myself got vexed doing too many films. What people felt was right, and there were excessive releases. I don’t want that to happen from here on. It happened because of the lack of planning on my side. A few things can’t be in my hands.

Could you tell us about your future projects?

I will be doing another film with UV Creations. After that, I am yet to sign any project. I have decided to plan my career in a careful manner without being in a hurry.
