Sharwa is super happy with the response to Jaanu. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

What made you accept to remake such a classic?

I never wanted to do this film and also felt that such a posh subject should not be remade. But Dil Raju made me do the film. I have 100% belief in his judgment and went by his word and accepted the project.

What was your thought process before doing this film?

I had so many negative feelings about the remake. I was scared of the trolls and comparisons that would arise after the release. Also, Samantha is a star performer and matching up to her, issues like these were making rounds in my mind. But the belief Raju Garu had in me made my performance click.

How is the response to the film and your role?

Frankly speaking, the response has been quite good and I did not expect it at all. Many say that the film does not look like a remake at all. Others said that they never remembered Vijay or Trisha while watching the film. This was the biggest compliment for me.

How does it feel to score a hit after a long time?

I feel very good. More than the hits and flops, some films stay with you forever. Films like Gamyam, Prasthanam and now Jaanu, these are special films in my career and are very dear to me.

Looks like you have increased the speed in wrapping up films?

Laughs!. Yes, I have decided to do more films now. I want to follow the Akshay Kumar formula and do three films a year from now on. I have been on a slow pace in the last few years and this will change from now on.

Working with Samantha?

The film would not have come out the way it did if not for Sam. She is a major pillar of the film and was also one of the reasons for me to do the film in the first place. Our combo has worked well and I am happy that everyone is appreciating our work.

About Sreekaram?

The film is nearing its completion and it is about a farmer’s son who wants to be a farmer like his dad. The film is a family drama and is shaping up well.
