Syed Sohel Ryan, who shot to fame with Bigg Boss, will be next seen in Mr. Pregnant, which releases tomorrow. Sohel will be seen as a male pregnant. Roopa Kodavayur plays the heroine in this film. Produced by Appi Reddy, Ravindar Reddy Sajjala, and Venkat Annapareddy under the banner of Mic Movies, this film is directed by debutant Srinivas Vinjanampati. Famous distribution company Mythri Movie Distribution is releasing the film in Nizam. Ahead of the release, Sohel interacted with the media today, and here is the transcript.

Don’t you think doing a film like Mr. Pregnant is risky?

Bigg Boss made me get closer to the audience. If star heroes do commercial films, they will work out since they have fans. But young heroes like me need to try something new to attract audiences. Hence I did Mr. Pregnant. I don’t think making this film is risky. For young actors like me, doing routine commercial projects is a huge risk.

How did the project start?

Director Srinivas Vinjanampati has been my friend for eight years. He wanted to do this story with a big hero. As we are newcomers, he said the film wouldn’t get the craze. I didn’t enter Bigg Boss then. After I came from Bigg Boss, he told me that I would be the hero of the film. Then I signed, and that’s how it all started.

How challenging was your role?

It had been a different experience for me. When I accepted this film, my two sisters were pregnant. I observed how they walked, talked, and did things. Also, our director Srinivas is a good family person who gives good advice. I wore prosthetics weighing three kilos for my character. The weight was bothering me. We can imagine how hard it will be for women to carry us for nine months.

How do you think the audience will accept this film?

We have arranged a special screening for pregnant women who shed emotional tears after the show. They said that we have nicely depicted the difficulties faced by women. This is the best example of how our film connected with the audience. We hope to get the same response in theatres tomorrow.

How did you feel when the film got delayed?

I went into depression when the film’s release got delayed. I pinned many hopes on Mr. Pregnant, and I firmly believe it will be a game changer in my career.

Could you tell us about the film producer?

Mic Movies Appireddy garu is supporting new directors and heroes. Movies are being made with a budget of at least five to six crores. If he wants, he can spend some more budget and try star heroes. But he is providing opportunities to new people. I am also happy to do a film in Mic Movies.

How was it working with Roopa? What kind of films do you wish to do?

Roopa is a talented heroine, and she also received the SIIMA award. In this film, I played her hubby. Many reputed technicians worked on the film. Every day I work hard for films. Boot Cut Balraju is currently in the shooting stage. I am doing another film named Katha Vere Vuntadi. I am selective when it comes to films. Like the talented Ayushmann Khurana in Bollywood, I wish to do unique films.
