Vijay Anthony has made a name for himself in Tollywood. All his films are eagerly awaited and next in line for release is Yaman, a political thriller which has Vijay in a double role. On this occasion, we caught up with the man himself for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

What is Yaman all about?

Yaman is a complete political thriller with all the necessary ingredients which are showcased in all hard hitting films. The story is completely fictional and I play the character of a common man who rises to the level of a minister. The way his journey goes through various twists and turns is the whole story about.

Is the current political scenario of Tamil Nadu showcased in the film?

No! The story is five years old and dates back to that time zone. None of the issues of the current situation in Tamil Nadu are involved or showcased in the film. As I said, it a completely fictional film in a true commercial zone.

Story behind the title Yaman?

Yaman is the Tamil word for Yamudu. In this film, Vijay is like a Yamudu to all those politicians who do bad things in life. As it suited both the languages we went ahead with it. Also, the curiosity factor is quite high with the word Yaman.

Which is more difficult, acting or composing music?

I feel that acting is a bit easier when compared to any technical job. There is a name, fame, and things come easily to you when you are a known star. I am really enjoying my success and happy to be recognized and loved by all.

What went wrong with Bhethaldudu?

Probably, the second half of the film went wrong completely and we already knew it. After showcasing the first half on a gripping note, everyone was of the opinion that there would be a strong story behind the plot. But as there was nothing strong in the story line during the end, the film collapsed there and disappointed in Telugu. But the first week collections in Tamil were quite strong as the distributors saw good profits in the first week itself.

How do you select your films?

For me, the story is more important that the director and stars. If I like the script, I do not mind doing back to back love stories or political thrillers. Everything is in the way how the director narrates the film. I feel that if the screenplay is very gripping, things will automatically fall in place.

How difficult is film production?

After producing a few films, I have come to know as to how difficult is film production. Right from the time, the film goes on floors to the release date, producer works day and night to see his film pass with flying colors. I suggest that every actor should at least produce one film to know what pain producers go through.
