Vishwak Sen

Gaami features Vishwak Sen as an Aghora. Right from the first look, the movie created a good buzz among the audience. The trailer took everyone by surprise. Directed by Vidhyadhar Kagita and produced by Karthik Sabareesh under Karthik Kult Kreations, the adventure drama is funded by the crowd. V. Celluloid presents it. Today, Vishwak Sen interacted with the media and shared his experience about working on Gaami, and here is the transcript.

When did Gaami’s journey start?

Director Vidyadhar approached me after watching Vellipomake. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi wasn’t released at that time. He wrote the script on a magnanimous scale. I believed in him, and that’s why I came on board. I already know that it would take five years to complete Gaami. If we need to make it in a year, it would cost us 100 crores. We did guerrilla shooting in Varanasi and Kumbh Mela. That’s why it didn’t cost us much. Time is our biggest investment for Gaami. No matter when Gaami releases, it will look like a new film because no one has attempted something of this sort till now.

In your career, usually, songs bring the hype for films. Why is it different for Gaami?

The Gamyanni song clicked well after the trailer release. The song sung by Shankar Mahadevan Garu will be released in Srisailam. We took extreme care of the promotions. Even in the trailer we gave a glimpse of what the film will offer. Many films became blockbusters without commercial elements. Tumbadd also doesn’t have any commercial aspects. But we get invested in those stories. Gaami is an emotional film. Gaami’s second half won’t give you any breathing space. Emotion is the biggest asset of Gaami. You will surely get the feel of watching Christopher Nolan’s movie.

Could you tell us about director Vidhyadhar?

He asked me to read the entire script, and I read it. While reading it, I was worried about how we would translate it onto the screen. Vidhyadhar did three years of pre-production for Gaami. We can see the entire preparation in his office. He traveled on Gaami’s story for about 9 years. He did a thorough research to shape up the film the way he envisioned. The entire team’s effort is 10%, but the director’s effort is 90% for Gaami.

It seems there will be a lot of characters and subplots in the film. Will all of them be connected?

You will get to know that while watching the film. Gaami’s screenplay will be in Dunkirk style. You will enjoy the screenplay while watching Gaami. The narrative won’t be complicated. Gaami is incredible technically. Especially the whole second half will blow away your minds. I won’t have many dialogues. I played a performance-oriented role. All the characters, including Chadini and Abhinaya, have depth.

You previously produced a few films. How did you support Gaami?

I didn’t take the remuneration, and that’s the support I have given. I didn’t become a burden for makers. I remained the same from the moment we started the shoot till the end of production. I worked on Gaami for 70 days. Actually, working on this film is almost like an adventure. We know that the snow-filled areas are dangerous yet we gave it our all.

Are you releasing the movie in other languages?

As of now, we are concentrating only on the Telugu version. We are releasing the movie in PCX format. We only have four such screens which will be suitable for PCX format. This is the first time a Telugu movie is coming in this format.
