Telugu platform Aha has come up with a new show titled Arthamainda Arun Kumar. It stars Harshith Reddy, Tejaswi Madivada, and Ananya in the lead roles. The series is currently available for streaming, and let’s see how it is.
Story:
Arun Kumar (Harshith Reddy), hailing from Amalapuram, lands in Hyderabad to fulfill his goals. He doesn’t want to settle for small things and aims big in life. Arun Kumar joins as an intern at a corporate company. There he comes across different people and experiences the highs and lows of corporate life. The series depicts the journey of Arun Kumar in the corporate milieu.
Plus Points:
The show has some relatable moments. All those who have done internships at some stage in their lives can resonate with a few scenes depicted in the series. For example, there comes a crucial situation where the protagonist has to choose between returning to his hometown or staying back in the office. This has been shown in a realistic manner.
Harshith Reddy is good in the lead role. He rightly displays the various emotions present in his character and shoulders the series all the way. Tejaswi Madivada looked gorgeous, and her performance was also good.
The basic intention of the makers to showcase the corporate world is appreciable. Arthamainda Arun Kumar has some well-written dialogues here and there. Vasu Inturi is good in his role. It takes a while to get adjusted to his Hindi slang, but after that, he will win over us.
Minus Points:
While a few aspects are dealt with in a realistic manner, a few went over the top. It would have been a lot better had the makers shown things in a realistic manner without adding masala. The over-the-top approach brings down the impact at times.
Though Ananya gives a neat performance, her character isn’t etched well. It starts off on a good note but gets sidelined as the series progresses. The love track between Harshith and Ananya isn’t showcased well, and hence the show fails on the emotional front. There is a sequel to the show, and it looks like the makers reserved the content for the second season.
The opening episode features the male lead entering the bustling city of Hyderabad and encountering miserable experiences in the office. All this happens in a haste manner. Furthermore, the things are depicted at the surface level without delving deep into the complexities, and hence depth is missing.
Technical Aspects:
Ajay Arasada’s background score and songs are decent. The cinematography by Amardeep Guttula is neat, and so are the production values. The editing is okay.
Coming to the director, Jonathan Edwards, he did a below-par job with the series. Though he has chosen a relatable storyline, depth is missing in the series, and hence the overall feel is not satisfactory. Arthamainda Arun Kumar isn’t a bad show by any means, but the problem is with the way the emotions are handled.
Verdict:
On the whole, Arthamainda Arun Kumar is an attempt to depict the corporate world, but the show lacks the desired emotional depth. The lead cast did a good job, and there are a few relatable moments. But the show isn’t a satisfying watch altogether.
