Srikanth Meka starrer Kotabommali PS released today in theaters after creating a decent buzz with its promotions. Check out our review to know how the movie is.

Story:

Rama Krishna (Srikanth Meka), a senior policeman, works at Kotabommali Police Station with new trainees Ravi Kumar (Rahul Vijay) and Kumari (Shivani Rajashekar). Home Minister Barisela Jayaraj (Murali Sharma) is set on winning elections using caste politics in the area. On a fateful day, Rama Krishna and the trainees encounter a problem that will affect Jayaraj’s success. To find out more about the issue, Jayaraj’s actions, whether the police help their colleagues, and the final outcome, you need to watch the movie.

Plus Points:

While the creators of Kotabommali PS claim to have adapted only the central plot of the Malayalam film Nayattu, the entire remake closely mirrors the original. However, the team adeptly navigated this challenge, thanks to the judicious selection of cast and filming locations.

Srikanth Meka delivers a nuanced and commendable performance, effectively embodying the character of a responsible policeman and a caring father.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, portraying an investigation officer, skillfully balances her role, delivering a refined performance. Murali Sharma impresses as a selfish politician, while Rahul Vijay and Shivani Rajasekhar also contribute effectively. The remaining cast members give their best for the film.

The pre-climax and climax are compelling, standing out as the highlights of the entire film. The score seamlessly complements the story, and the well-crafted dialogues add to the narrative, courtesy of the writing department.

Minus Points:

Despite having a straightforward concept, Kotabommali PS deals with the political pressure on the law & order system. While well-conveyed through carefully constructed scenes, a more briskly paced first half could have heightened the viewers’ engagement.

A more profound emotional connection between Srikanth and his daughter could have intensified the audience’s connection to the climax.

The narration, akin to the original, unfolds at a leisurely pace. The team misses an opportunity to infuse dynamism by changing the screenplay in the first half for a more engaging experience.

Technical Aspects:

Director Teja Marni adeptly manages the film without deviating from the essence of the original, although tweaking the first-half’s screenplay could have injected more dynamism.

The music and score by Ranjin Raj provide an intriguing depth, but the cinematography by Jagadeesh Cheekati, while satisfactory, could have been more immersive for a thrilling experience. Karthika Srinivas R could have trimmed down a few unnecessary scenes in the first half. Production values are adequate.

Verdict:

On the whole, Kotabommali PS is a watchable survival thriller, featuring impressive performances from Srikanth, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Murali Sharma. However, the leisurely pace in the first half and the consistently serious tone may not strike a chord with every viewer. If you can overlook these aspects, Kotabommali PS could be a decent option for the weekend viewing.
