After the family entertainer Swathimuthyam, Ganesh Bellamkonda is back with his second film Nenu Student Sir! Directed by Rakhi Uppalapati, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Subbu (Ganesh Bellamkonda), a college student, is very fond of iPhone. He plans to purchase iPhone 12, but his financial ability stops him from doing so. Subbu finally buys one with his hard-earned money. Unfortunately, the same mobile makes him land in a murder case and turns his life upside down. Much to his shock, his bank account gets credited with 1.75 crores. How did Subbu get involved in a murder case? Who deposited such a lumpsum amount in Subbu’s account? What hardships did Subbu go through to prove his innocence? The film has the answers.
Plus Points:
The basic story provided by Krishna Chaitanya is good as the film talks about the financial scam related to unclaimed bank accounts. The point chosen has been explained in a neat manner towards the end of the film through Sunil’s character. In one way, the makers provided awareness to the audience regarding the mentioned financial scam, which is appreciable.
Ganesh Bellamkonda gave a sincere performance as a college student. He doesn’t play a typical hero in Nenu Student Sir! and his character arc is designed well. Also, it looked natural too. He is very good in the climax portions.
Sunil, though plays a brief cameo, is impressive in his role. After his entry, things start becoming interesting, and the last forty minutes are neatly presented. Samuthirakani does what is expected of him. Srikanth Iyengar is decent in his role.
Minus Points:
Nenu Student Sir! could have been a very good thriller had the screenplay been good. The entire first half is quite boring as the proceedings fail to create interest among the viewers. On top of that, the boring love track is annoying and lengthy too.
A few actors didn’t have proper lip sync during most of the scenes affecting the viewing experience. Even the second half starts on a dull note with many bland scenes, and the significant amount of screen time has been wasted. Just when the film is bogging down, the last forty minutes act as a redemption. A better narrative could have definitely made this flick an exciting thriller.
The movie needs some serious bit of editing, as at least fifteen minutes could have been easily chopped off. The dialogues were pretty irritating most of the time and some of them were frequently repeated for no reason. A few logics went for a toss, and the makers should have taken more care regarding this aspect.
Technical Aspects:
The music by Mahati Swara Sagar is decent, and the Maaye Maaye song was good on screen. Anith Madhadi’s camera work is good, and so are the production values. The dialogues, as mentioned earlier should have been written better. The editing is below-par.
Coming to the director, Rakhi Uppalapati, he did a below-par job with the movie. Despite having an interesting point, he didn’t succeed in coming up with an engaging screenplay. The last forty minutes act as the saving grace. Nenu Student Sir! indeed had a lot more potential, but it hasn’t been used effectively.
Verdict:
On the whole, Nenu Student Sir! has a good concept, but the narration is underwhelming. Ganesh Bellamkonda does well, and the movie becomes interesting towards the end. But the rest of the film isn’t engrossing and is bland. Hence Nenu Student Sir! ends up being an okay watch this weekend.
