Nandamuri Tarakarathna has hit the screens today with a masala formula film ‘Nandeeswarudu’. The movie has been directed by Sreenu Yarajala and the film has been made on Kota Film Corporation. Sheena is the heroine of the movie. Let us see how the movie stacks up.

Story :

The film is loosely inspired by the Kannada flick ‘Deadly Soma’. Nandu (Tarakarathna) is a student who wants to become a police officer. His parents (Suman and Seetha) want him to lead a meaningful life. Nandu has a habit of getting into fights and this leads him to clash with a local gangster Baba (Ajay). A few shocking incidents take place and Nandu ends up in jail. Fed up with the way things are turning up, Nandu introspects and decides to redeem himself as a man of the people. He reshapes himself as Nandeeswarudu and starts fighting for people who are oppressed.

The government appoints Eswar (Jagapathi Babu) as a special officer to rid the city of gangsters. In the fight between Nandeeswarudu and Baba, only one emerges victorious. Who will it be? That forms the story

Plus Points :

Tarakarathna has improved a lot when compared to his earlier films. He has put in special efforts for this movie and it shows. Sheena is ok as a heroine. She has put in a good dose of glamour. Jagapathi Babu has done a superb job as special officer Eswar. His mannerisms are similar to his performance in Lakshyam.

Ajay is ok in the role of Baba. Suman and Seetha do their job.

Minus Points :

Better care should have been taken about Tarakarathna’s characterization and looks. The screenplay is dull and the first half tests your patience. The director should have handled the narration better. Some needless songs and scenes in the first half could have been trimmed. There is too much melodrama and needless heroism in the second half.

There are many holes and illogical sequences in the film. There is no proper etching of the romantic track between Tarakarathna and Sheena. There are many cliched scenes and irritating moral classes which could have been avoided.

Many actors were wasted in insignificant and incomplete roles. There are a host of other negative points in the film and we would run out of words and space if we list them out here.

Technical aspects :

Fights, especially in the second half are pretty ok. There is nothing much to write home in terms of dances. Cinematography is ok and editing could have been tighter. Background music is good but the music is very bad and none of the songs appeal.

Dialogues are ok in places but are too heavy most of the time.

Verdict :

Tarakarathna has put in a sincere effort but when he is let down by a poor script and bad screenplay, there is not much he can do. The pace is very slow and the patience of the audience is tested. The movie has nothing to offer in terms of either entertainment or action. Tarakarathna will have to wait for that elusive success. Nandeeswarudu ends up as an aimless flick with no focus. Can be avoided.
