‘Premiste’ director Balaji Shaktivel, who set a new trend by narrowing the bridge between art house and commercial cinema, is back with ‘Prema Lo Padithe’. Suresh Kondeti is bringing this movie for Telugu audience and the movie has released today. So let us see how this movie fares.

Story:

The story has two separate tracks which intersect towards the end . Venu (Sri) is an orphan who works in a roadside shop. He falls for Jyothi (Urmila Mahantha), who works as a servant maid in nearby apartments. He keeps trying desperately to win her heart.

On a separate track,Aarthy (Manisha Yadav) lives in the apartment complex where Jyothi works. Her neighbor is Ritesh(Mithun Murali) who is a spoiled brat. Nitesh woos Aarthy and shoots some obscene videos of her. When she comes to know about this, Aarthy threatens to go to the Police. A tensed Ritesh hatches a conspiracy and plans to bump off Aarthy. Unexpectedly, Velu and Jyothi get caught in this mess. What happens to them? That forms the story.

Plus Points:

Sri, who played the lead role, has done an excellent job as Venu. Mithun Murali as Ritesh oozes venom in the movie and Manisha Yadav is perfect for the role.

It is not necessary to have big stars to make a decent film, and this has been proved once again with ‘Prema Lo Padithe. The director needs to be appreciated for extracting such good performances from newcomers.

The director has used the first half to narrate the background information of all the characters and the story progresses in the second half. ‘Prema Lo Padithe’ is an intense love story which is pure and simple.

The director manages to keep the audience engaged right till the very end.

Minus Points:

The second half could have been tweaked a bit to increase the pace of the film. Screenplay is the biggest minus for the movie. Just when the movie gains momentum, a special song featuring producer Suresh Kondeti appears and he goes about preaching the values of love. This song could have been avoided.

There are no commercial elements in the film and this film will be difficult for casual movie lovers to appreciate. As is the case with all dubbed films, too much Tamil nativity is a big turnoff.

The tragic ending will be a little hard for our people to appreciate.

Technical Aspects:

The makers have used a Canon EOS 7D digital camera for the filming of this flick. Locations are captured in a very realistic manner, thanks to amazing cinematography by Vijay Milton. Background score is something that lends solid support to the film. Editing of the movie is apt.

Director’s narration is realistic but should have had more pace.

Verdict:

Premalo Padithe is realistic and captivating for intense movie lovers. On the flip side, a crisp second half and some commercial elements to suit Telugu nativity could have made a difference. , For intense movie lovers, ‘Prema Lo Padithe’ is just a one time watch.
