After almost three decades, the legendary banner Prasad Productions is making a comeback in the field of movie production. Aravind Krishna and Supriya Shailja play the lead characters in this film. Directed by Raj Madiraju, the film opens across Andhra Pradesh tomorrow. We have been to a special preview show so let us see how the movie is.

Story:

Rushi (Aravind Krishna) is a no-nonsense medico who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is extremely practical in his thinking and never lets emotions cloud his thoughts. His frank nature is not appreciated by everyone but he soon wins the admiration of his colleagues and professors because of his brilliance. Rushi falls for his classmate Pooja (Supriya Shailja) and while she detests him at first, Pooja too falls for him over time.

Unexpected circumstances bring a severely ill kid Karthik (Gaurav) into the life of Rushi. As Rushi fights for the life of Karthik, he must overcome a challenge of his own. To what extent will Rushi go to save the life of Karthik? What is that personal challenge he needs to overcome? Will he be able to surmount the medical and legal issues that he faces?

Plus Points :

Aravind Krishna has improved tremendously when compared to his earlier film. He is now more confident and there is ease in his performance. Aravind’s handsome looks and good physique are obvious assets for him. With careful story selection, Aravind will go a long way in the industry.

Surpiya makes a pretty good debut. Though her expressions are off the mark in the first half, she makes up for it in the second half with a good performance. She looks good and her screen chemistry with Aravind is good to watch.

Master Gaurav has delivered an endearing performance. He looks cute. The director has done a lot of research to come up with a realistic take on the life of a medico. The handling of the script is mature. There is a good dose of emotion in the film and some scenes are truly gut wrenching. The first half is fast paced and has a good amount of comedy.

Minus Points :

The director has taken an idealistic view of many medico legal issues and things are not always so simple. The film has too many songs and atleast 2 songs in the first half and 2 songs in the second half should have been left out.

Some of the scenes portrayed may seem too radical and unacceptable for some sections of the society.

Technical aspects :

The film has good production values. Dialogues are just about ok. Don Chandran’s musical score is passable. Cinematography is decent. Editing should have been better. Raj Madiraju shows promise as a director.

Verdict :

Rushi is a very different movie when compared to the regular formula movies that come out of industry. It is an honest and mature portrayal of a young doctor’s crusade against the system for the sake of his patient. Some very thoughtful questions about human life and suffering are raised in this movie. If you are looking for a different and honest flick this weekend, Rushi will entertain you.

123telugu.com Rating : NA – This movie cannot be rated in the same manner as a regular commercial film and the normal parameters of rating a movie do not apply here. For this reason, I am not giving a rating for this medical drama.
